Hey there, Everybody!

I have had the honor of being able to write for OregonLesbian.com for a couple years now. The owners and I forged an acquaintance via Youtube that I've been grateful for because I get the opportunity to talk about all the Oregon (mostly Portland) stuff that I love and do.

I have now been living in Portland for almost 4 years and I LOVE it! I feel like I was born to be here. Growing up, I moved ALOT so it's relieving to finally have somewhere to call "home". I have recently taken my love for Portland and my excitement about what it has to offer to a whole new level... (Sitting on the edge of your seat yet?)

I have created a website about Portland where I get to talk all about the nitty gritty of the city from a Portlander's point of view. I am so friggin' excited about this! As of today (Sept. 27, 2010), it is still a little infantile but should be a roaring site of genius before you know it! I am most excited about doing a LGBTQ section that exposes our community, lives and things we love to do around Portland.

So, if you've enjoyed my articles or just want to support a fellow Oregonian, go over and take a gander... Portland Oregon Insider.

Thanks all my Queers!

Custom Maid GREEN CLEANING

*Lesbian owned and operated*

Keep Portland GREEN

We at Custom Maid value our environment and our community. For this reason we use all-natural products. How do we know they're all-natural? We make them ourselves! We use castille soap, vinegar, baking soda and a variety of essential oils making our products all-natural, non-toxic and hypo-allergenic. Also, creating our own products means that we're not giving our money, or yours, to big companies with shareholders that are getting rich on being green.
Keep Portland LOCAL

In the spirit of keeping things local, Custom Maid has made an ongoing commitment to buy products (oils, etc) and hire employees from the local Portland area. By feeding money back into Portland, we can all support our local economy, strengthening an already incredible city.

Your Customized Clean

Custom Maid has been fortunate enough to work with a top software designer to formulate a program that fully customizes your cleaning. This program keeps track of every chore in every room of your house with an accountability system so that you know everything you want done gets done. This system also keeps track of how long each room in your home takes so that we can constantly work to be more efficient. That's our commitment to our clients, a fully customizable clean!

The Folks at Custom Maid

Custom Maid was founded in June of 2009 by Laura Way and her partner Jessica Johnston. The couple was inspired by the community of Portland and how dedicated it is to fixing our climate by being green and keeping things local. They decided to start a house cleaning business in their spare time that held those same values as it's main philosophy.

Since the conception of Custom Maid, Laura and Jessica have been delighted by the reception of the philosophy. Portlanders love the concept of knowing what goes into every aspect of keeping their homes clean. The women have made profound connections with their clients and have deepened their sense of community, all the while, keeping their city healthy.

Both women still have day jobs but Custom Maid continues to grow. They have decided to start hiring local, qualified employees to help with new clients. Everyone on the Custom Maid team is excited about the success and future of the company.

Consultations are always 100% FREE!

Haven Coffee

Who doesn't appreciate a good cup of coffee, a great pastry and incredibly good company? Well, you're going to find all of that and some additional fun down on SE Division and 35th Pl. when you visit Haven Coffee Shop. Take it from someone who has logged countless hours sipping Blackberry White Mocha's and surfing the free wifi, you won't be able to stay away.

The Stumptown Coffee and assortment of pastries from LOCAL bakeries (only) are exceptional however it's not just the goodies that make this place feel like a second living room to gay and straight alike. The baristas are friendly, intellectual and involved in the community loving to talk it up with the customers, often times becoming friends with the regulars. Also, a different artists work is spotlighted every couple months, for the creative types.

If you happen in on a Saturday evening, grab a beer (yes they have an assortment of beer as well) and enjoy some live music. Heck, stop in anytime to experience this little-known Portland gem. You might even get a glimpse of the Dale, the very busy yet thoroughly pleasant lesbian owner...

I hope to see you down there soon! Also, don't forget to visit their website at www.HavenCoffee.com
